We are located centrally on the West Clare coastline, operating primarily from Lahinch.

This perfect location gives you the opportunity to fish or hone your skills on the shores of the mighty Atlantic ocean or on the numerous angling opportunities that exist inland.

The location for your session will be based on factors such as the chosen activity, weather, tide times and other variables. You will be advised as to the location when booking.

It is hard to imagine just how varied the west and north Clare coastline actually is. Just think of any particular fishing circumstance that you would wish to encounter and it is a guarantee that you will find it here. As a full time guide service we constantly patrol the coast in search of our target species. We know where, when and how to catch that special fish.

The Bass of Co.Clare are just as numerous and as sizeable if not more so than any other location in Europe. The fact is people do not fish for this spectacular species so much in Clare as they do in other parts, I personally think that unlike west coast angling few anglers have put in the time to fully explore this complex coast and therefore they never come to realise the full potential of the Clare Bass marks, for this rugged coastline is not easy to understand especially without a guide. West coast angling consider the Bass their speciality, we spend hundreds and hundreds of hours a year targeting these hard fighting elusive fish with the fly and lures, as such we are on the button when it comes to putting these prized fish on the bank for our clients, our clients regularly break there personal bests and it should be known that the Irish record Bass came from a mark that we fish regularly, beware bass fishing is addictive.

Trout. It is sad to say that the exceptional trout fishing of yesteryear is all but gone in west Clare and the reality is that the trout fisheries we do have are a long way from being as good as they could be, however it was my fortune to come across a lake that holds some secrets. This lake is rarely fished, it is of substantial size and has a lot of features. What first put me on to the lake was stories of visiting anglers getting smashed by big fish a lot, this could not be ignored and on exploring the lake in depth i have found a stock of fish that i consider to be one of Irelands best kept secrets, this spot is rarely fished and i save my excursions to this fishery for visiting anglers only in an attempt to preserve it's uniqueness. If you are an avid conscientious fly fisher that wants to experience big Triploid brownies then please give me a call.

Pike fishing in Co.Clare has always been held in high regard, within Clare there are hundreds of small ponds and lakes that all produce good catches of pike. West coast angling concentrates it's efforts on the west Clare lakes in and around Corrofin, the lakes here are very consistent and as such we do not have to travel to far to find quality pike angling. We love to fish for the pike on the fly and this method tends to prove successful for numerous smaller fish and the odd big one, when we target the larger of the species we turn to lures and occasionally fish with dead baits. Although we fish for pike throughout the year most of our pike fishing is done in the winter months when the Bass have slowed down, however, during the summer months we regularly fish top of the water tactics for this hard fighting predator, taking lot's of fish to fly cast poppers, very exiting stuff. Our favourite lake holds a huge head of twenties and the chance of a thirty is not out of the question.

The Mullet that come in shore during the summer amass in such numbers that you can only marvel at the spectacle, it is not uncommon to see shoals of fish 100+ strong and weighing 10 lbs or more, they congregate along weed lined beaches and bays searching out maggots and crustacea, you will see the mullet move up rivers and bask in the mouths of estuaries. West coast angling make regular forays with the mullet as the target species, most commonly we use the fly to capture these fish, but should this not be practical then they can be fished for with bread. However make no mistake these fish are hard to catch and all to often prove themselves to be impossible to even tempt. Once hooked the initial run is unbelievable, many times even a small fish will not stop until it has stripped a lot of line.

Mackerel and Pollock, both of these species visit and inhabit our coastline in profusion. The Mackerel in fact come to the lure with such vigour that i have had this hard fighting fish chase my fly clean out of the water and land at my feet. Every fly fisher should experience mackerel on the fly, such fun and they taste great to. The mackerel arrive in huge numbers in May and stay until the beginning of November, we are constantly catching this fun fish by default when targeting other species.

The Pollock of Co.Clare are legendary both in terms of size and numbers, the habitat for them is perfect. They will happily come to the fly and my guests often land very special fish on this method. Both of these species are tasty to eat, numerous and are a bait species for the Bass, one of my favourite Bass marks is actually a nursery ground for the juvenile pollock and in late summer this area can produce some very substantial Bass.
